They had no cigars there, my lord, and I left the place in disgust."  Alfred Lord Tennyson

Captain’s Table Scotch, Bourbon and
Cigar Tasting a Huge Success!

A sell-out crowd attended this year’s Monroe Fire Department fundraiser under the tent at Captain’s Table Restaurant sponsored by Star Wines & Liquors and The Depot Cigar & Candle. And, between the excellent booze and the Perdomo smokes, everyone had a great time.

And for those who want more in another outdoor environment …

On Thursday, July 24th Dautaj Restaurant in Warwick is providing an outdoor four-course dinner and bourbon/cigar tasting on its luxurious Oakland Avenue lawn – for only $49.95! For a reservation, call Ray at 845-986-3666.

Famous Cigar Makers

Last month we featured Perdomo Cigars, a boutique Nicaraguan company now run by Nick Perdomo, Jr., son of its founder. The Depot features Perdomo brands on a separate shelf, and also sells Perdomo four-cigar “prepacks” for only $24.50.

But there are other former Cubans who have been leading personalities in the cigar industry as well.  Jose Padron got off the boat in Miami in 1962 (a year after Fidel Castro assumed power in Cuba).  A friend gave him a hammer, which enabled him to work as a carpenter for the next two years, while he dreamed of opening a high-quality cigar factory. In 1964, using $600 of his saved money, Jose opened Padron cigars, which is now internationally esteemed for its great cigars. His son Jorge now runs the Company and displays his father’s hammer to remind family members, employees and customers of their roots. Padron also rates its own full shelf at the Depot with cigars ranging in price from $5.95 to $29.85.
Rocky Patel was not a Cuban exile but rather a Hollywood entertainment lawyer when he gave it all up to go into the cigar business. He is now known for his Rocky Patel Vintage Premium cigars and has the reputation of being the hardest working person in the industry. Alas, even though he travels 300 days a year, he has not yet visited The Depot and, until then, he rates only a half shelf. Rocky Patel’s Vintage series is manufactured in Honduras using a combination of Honduran and Ecuadorian Sumatra tobaccos. To assist in establishing a high-quality reputation, Rocky limited his initial production to 200 cigars a day, but he now produces 20,000,000 – that’s 20 million – cigars a year!
Jose Pepin Garcia became a cigar roller in Cuba when he was only 11 years old. Decades later, in 2003, he founded My Father Cigars in Nicaragua and now produces some of the top brands in the world. In fact, his Flor de Las Antillas brand was named Cigar of the Year by Cigar Aficionado in 2013 and has been the biggest seller at The Depot ever since (ony $8.75 a stick!). We have now added his Cedro Deluxe Cervantes brand at the insistence of a customer, and we assume that Captain Joe Brown and Kenny Batewell will start arguing about in the near future.

The Depot Cigar & Candle has the most diverse cigar selection in Orange County, plus plenty of other good stuff AND we always wrap your gifts – for FREE!
