Cigar War Erupts

Customers Attack Each Other
the Newsletter

You would think that on the eve of the July 4th holiday, all things would be positive at The Depot Cigar and Candle but, alas, that was not meant to be.
It started when customer Ike DeJesus suggested that El Rey Del Mundo cigars be added to the line-up; so we did. Kenny Batewell immediately tried it and pronounced it an “excellent smoke”. But Captain Joe Brown followed his pattern in not agreeing with Kenny about anything. Captain Joe tried the new cigar, said that it was “too strong” and “should be sold only to nincompoops like Kenny."
Then retired athlete Emilio Costoso took the occasion to complain bitterly that The Depot was temporarily out of stock of his favorite Titans saying, “I know that Saint Luis Rey has been having problems keeping its manufacturing of Titans up to the growing demand, but that does not excuse the store from its failure to anticipate the increase of demand which would result from my personal endorsement of Titans."
Assistant Store Manager Kathy Batewell then defended The Depot by sniping at fellow employee David Schulman saying, “No store can be perfect when it employs a cartoonist as its Head Tobacconist”.
