It started when Chip, the Hot Dog Guru, called this newsletter “a communist publication” after the last issue stated that we would not be able to obtain Cuban cigars until Americans stopped electing Republicans (who support the Cuban embargo). Chip added that, because of the newsletter, he would never buy a cigar in The Depot Cigar & Candle again. Instead, he moved his hot dog stand from Monroe to Warwick. We miss him.
Then, after Elvis Presley visited the shop to serenade our cigars, customer Andy LaDue complained that as professional drummer he should also be permitted to play in the shop, stating, “Unlike Elvis I’m still alive. That makes me a better musician and also a better customer for The Depot.”
These two guys aren’t the only celebrities around here. Stephanie Dolson is our biggest local sports celebrity (she’s 6’5” tall) and as captain of the University of Connecticut basketball team led them to a national championship, before she became a pro. Her weakness is that she has never visited The Depot Cigar & Candle.
New Offerings ...
In our July issue we reported that we have added El Rey Del Mundo cigars to our line-up at the suggestion of customer Ike DeJesus – a great smoke at only $8.95! But now we have gone the other price route by adding our most expensive smoke ever – a new Padron addition to its existing 1926 Series called the 80th Anniversary at $35.95.
